The Senet Group is pleased to welcome Stephen Wilson to its Board. Stephen is an expert in digital issues and will serve as an independent director without any connection to the gambling sector. Announcing the appointment, The Senet Group Chair, Wanda Goldwag, said
“I am delighted to welcome Stephen to our Board. Stephen brings a broad and strategic understanding of online services and their digital marketing and delivery by businesses ranging from start-ups to global providers. This appointment adds to our collective understanding of the ever-growing volume and variety of online gambling activity.”
Stephen succeeds Suzanne McCarthy as an independent director. In parallel, David Steele, Corporate Affairs Director at William Hill plc, has been appointed to The Senet Group Board succeeding Donal McCabe of Ladbrokes Coral Group plc.
Wanda Goldwag said
“We are indebted to Suzanne McCarthy and Donal McCabe, whose terms of office expired in December 2016, for their important work and their commitment to the responsible gambling agenda generally and to The Senet Group in particular.
2017 will be a very important year for The Senet Group. Our past campaigning has succeeded in making gamblers and friends and family talk about, and sometimes change, their gambling behaviours for the better. But there is more to be done. We have made a series of recommendations to Government on how self-regulation can play a core role delivering social responsibility actions that make a real difference in preventing problem gambling and allowing the public at large to use services with trust and confidence. We will now prepare to deliver on new responsible gambling commitments and aim to remain a key partner to Government, the Gambling Commission and others going forward.”
The Senet Group is an independent body created by some of Britain’s leading gambling businesses in response to public concerns on gambling, and gambling advertising in particular. Its responsibilities include proposing, monitoring and enforcing compliance with commitments given by members on advertising and other measures aimed at protecting the vulnerable.
