Our “Bad Betty” campaign has been created to help prevent problem gambling. Following a highly-successful launch in 2015, the campaign has been refreshed in advance of major betting events such as the Euro 2016 football tournament. The 2016 campaign runs in TV, print, digital and social media.
“WHEN THE FUN STOPS, STOP” is the prominent message appearing across the advertising campaign, to highlight the warning signs of problem gambling and the benefits of staying in control. Gambleaware.co.uk features prominently in the campaign, as a source of advice for those who feel their gambling is getting out of control.
Our #BadBetty campaign features these simple tips to help prevent gambling becoming a problem: set your limits at the start; only bet what you can afford; never chase your losses; don’t bet if you’re getting angry and never put betting before your mates.
Since 1 January 2015, our member companies have carried “WHEN THE FUN STOPS, STOP” on their TV and other forms of advertising including online and in betting shops. This represents the most visible warning yet to be carried by the industry.

Independent evaluation shows that the campaign has helped over a third of regular gamblers control their gambling, and more than two million people have directly quoted ‘when the fun stops, stop’. You can download the evaluation report for March 2016 here.
